Hello everyone? long time no see… it’s been a while since our last posting. Several days ago, the buddhism people celebrated their Waisak day. In Indonesia, when the Waisak day is come, people are gathering to Borobudur temple. Well, as i said in one of my posting about Borobudur temple, the temple itself was built in the 8th century, and the tradition about Waisak was held eversince 1953 by The Boan An or Bhikkhu Ashin Jinarakkhita as the ancestor of the Budhist in Indonesia. About 1000 lanterns was carried by all the people to illuminate the west area of Borobudur temple. The athmosphere was so unique and the view was beautiful. Just like the other years before, there’re about 10.000 buddhism whose celebrated Waisak in Borobudur temple. In 4-5 may 2012 the eternal flame was taken from Mrapen Kabubaten Grobogan, and the holy water was taken from Umbul Jumprit Kabupaten Temanggung. Here it is the picture that i took from googling… :)) [aci]

Idul Fitri Day in Indonesia

So sorry for the postpone guys ! We’ll starts to blog again this week okay?
hahaha…

It’s been a month since we had the holy month of Ramadhan here in all over country. The end of the Ramadhan is marked by the new moon at the end of the month. All the Muslims have to meet all their families and back to their hometown to ask them for forgiveness. So, we could be back to the purity from their blessing. It’s so crowded in all over the place. If you want to spend some of your holidays here, you better not to come at the month of Ramadhan and Idul Fitri. The airlines ticket must be high and people here in Indonesia is spreading in all over the tourism spot.

So, guys, please forgive us and let’s back to be as pure as  a baby. 🙂

National TV Station’s Program in Religious day

Hi, i am sorry for not blogging recently. I was in a quite hectic days.

By the way, today is the first Ramadan. Every muslims in the world  will be fasting. You can feel the atmosphere of Ramadan too here, since Muslims are very large  number in this republic country.

This year, Ramadan is from 1 August to 29 August. Just like another Ramadan, the national tv stations (more than 10 stations) here has a Ramadan program for a month. Such as tv series with Islam theme (it can be comedy and drama), some tv advertisement will have Islam theme, and then a program about knowing Islam (such as the history, the teaching, etc) and some quizzes.

The national  tv stations here usually adjust their programs according to religious day. for example, in Ramadan month  and Idul Fitri, their tv programs will  have Islam theme, in christmas day or easter day they will have christmas or easter theme, in “Nyepi” day (last day of Balinese calendar, when no work is done) the tv programs will have Nyepi’s theme and so on for Vesak and Konghucu (Chinese new year). Those are official religion in this country. Or if they don’t have the religious theme on their tv programs, they usually have felicitation advertisement  for those who celebrate their religious day.[cel].

I remember when i did an interview with the best history lecturer in Indonesia for my project, i asked about this Borobudur temple. He said, based on his research, probably  long ago  Borobudur temple painted in white and floated in an artificial lake, so it looks like white lotus floating in the water. They made the temple first, then dam up the  Progo and Elok river. Isn’t it amazing? [cel].
