Braga Festival Bandung

Last week,  Bandung celebrated its 201st  birthday. Many events held to support it such as cinema bus, carnival, and also Braga Festival Bandung. It called so, because it was held at Braga street, which is one of the old place and landmark in Bandung history.

There, most of artist participated to show their aspiration and hopes about this city with their own way. This event is held in 23rd until 25th of September every year. So, if you want to come here and see it,  you know when is the right time, right? haha…

At the Braga street you will see mostly painting, traditional songs, traditional musics, etc. There are also contemporary art such as photography and the sculpture which is made by garbage and it criticism the government.  You could see the atmosphere of the festival from this pictures :

 

Hungry? There’s no need to worry, because there are also an old bakery shop and restaurant where you can find an old school cake with a unique atmosphere named Sumber Hidangan. Need something refreshing? There’s a cafe that sell a very good ice cream named Canary, at Canary  you can buy a little traditional snacks too.

Sail Wakatobi-Belitong 2011

Angklung Beat The World Record

What is Angklung? Angklung  is a musical instrument  from West Java, Indonesia, made of two bamboo tubes attached to a bamboo frame. Both two tubes will produce sound by shaking the frame.  There is several notes which is produced by Angklung : Pelong, Salendro, Pentatonis and Diatonis.

Salendro and Pelog mostly use in traditional Sundanese music. While Pentatonis only has note of Da, Mi, Na, Ti, La, Da. And Diatonis note is introduced by Daeng Soetigna in 1938 and has common note : Do, re Mi, Fa, So, La, Si, Do.

In the early ancient time, Angklung was used in a ceremony which is related to rice, in order to honor Nyai Sri Pohaci as a Rice Goddess. In Sundanese Kingdom, Angklung was used as encouragement in battle, After Islam came to Indonesia, Angklung was used as entertainment and used to spread Islam. A couple months ago, Indonesia breaks Guinness World Records for the largest angklung ensemble in Washington DC. [sel].

Helping The Man of The Forest, Orangutan.

Have you ever heard of it? Orangutan is a big ape lives mostly in Sumatran and Kalimantan Island (Borneo), Indonesia. You could find them in the border between Malaysia and Indonesia too. Orangutan is one of the endangered animal category. So, it’s our job to keep their existence. The name, orangutan comes from Indonesian. It means “man of the forest”.

In the ancient times, the population of orangutan spread in southeast part of Asia, like Thailand, Vietnam, China and Malaysia. Now, it’s just a few of them. The hunter often kill their mothers to get their son and sell them to the collector.

“Based on recent surveys, biologists believe that only 50,000-60,000 orangutans remain in the wild. They have lost approximately 80% of their forest home in the past 20 years.”

The Legend Couple: Susi Susanti and Alan Budi Kusuma

Lucia Fransisca Susi Susanti or Wang Lian-xiang was born in Tasikmalaya, West Java, 11 February 1971. She is very talented. She was the first Indonesian woman badminton athlete who won the olympic games in Barcelona, 1992. At the games she’s always very calm and cool to achieve each points. She was the winner in All England tournament for the fourth times (1990, 1991, 1993, 1994). There were many other achievements that she had obtained in her life. In May 2004, the International Badminton Federation (IBF) awarded her the Hall of Fame.

Idul Fitri Day in Indonesia

So sorry for the postpone guys ! We’ll starts to blog again this week okay?
hahaha…

It’s been a month since we had the holy month of Ramadhan here in all over country. The end of the Ramadhan is marked by the new moon at the end of the month. All the Muslims have to meet all their families and back to their hometown to ask them for forgiveness. So, we could be back to the purity from their blessing. It’s so crowded in all over the place. If you want to spend some of your holidays here, you better not to come at the month of Ramadhan and Idul Fitri. The airlines ticket must be high and people here in Indonesia is spreading in all over the tourism spot.

 

So, guys, please forgive us and let’s back to be as pure as  a baby. 🙂
